Publius Cornelius Sulla, Servius Cornelius Sulla

Publius Cornelius Rufinus Sulla, was the first Roman to be named Sulla. He was the great-grandfather of Lucius Cornelius Sulla, who would become the dictator of Rome. His father is unknown, though his grandfather was Publius Cornelius Rufinus, who served twice as consul during the Samnite Wars.

Publius was flamen dialis and, in 212 BC, was elected praetor urbanus and peregrinus. He presented over the first ludi Apollinares, thereby instituting an annual Roman festival in honor of Apollo.
