Prognosis markers in Cancers

Prognosis markers are used to determine the progress of the disease in a patient sample. The widely used prognostic markers in Cancers are Stages, Size, Grade, Node and Metastasis. Irrespective of these common markers, there are also prognostic markers specific to a cancer type. For example (Estrogen level, Progestrone and HER2) are specific to Breast cancer patients. Certain gene mutations can also act as prognosis markers. There are several evidences showing tumor suppressor and oncogenes acting as prognostic markers by their activation and suppression respectively.
