Pradeep Vyas

Pradeep Vyas was the former district collector of the city of Mumbai, India. He is an IAS officer in charge of administrative duties, land records and taxation for the Central Indian government.

Among his achievements are the demolition of an illegal temple owned by the city collectorate on Marine Drive and the registration of a large number of city voters for the national election in 2004.

Recent Controversy

Pradeep Vyas was accused of being involved in the Adarsh Society scam, Mumbai. It is alleged that in 2004 he gave a wrong reply to an Indian Minister's question in Lok Sabha (lower house of Indian Parliament) and in 2003, regarding the transfer of Army's land to Adarsh Society. In reply to the question (2003) as to why the army land was transferred to the Adarsh Society, Pradeep wrote back (2004) that the land had not been transferred, indicating his own connivance in the scam.
