Prêtre Martin (Father Martin) is a character who serves the Mass alone to himself, and appears in the old French proverbs:

  • Faire le Prêtre Martin (15th century) - 'To do a Father Martin' meaning to answer oneself.
  • Prêtre Martin qui chante et qui répond (19th century) - 'Father Martin who chants and who responds'
