Porcupine dates, Hao Zhu Zhao, 豪猪枣, (箭豬棗), Batu Landak. The Malayan porcupine bezoar (Hystrix brachyura bezoar). Porcupine dates also known as porcupine gallstone or bezoar are an unproven folk remedy in Malaysia. Sellers claim that porcupine bezoar is highly effective for treatment of various illnesses. They also falsely claim that it is a traditional Chinese medicine. There is no mention of porcupine bezoar in the annals of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). These false claims are being perpetuated because the illegal trade of porcupine bezoar is very lucrative.

As most porcupines do not have any gallstones, most of them are killed and just thrown away. It is estimated that 90% do not contain bezoars. The population of porcupines in the wild has fallen drastically due to the hunt for porcupine bezoars.

A bezoar is a mass of food trapped in an animal's digestive system, usually from consuming grass and herbs. Sellers claim that porcupine bezoar has many healing properties.

There's high demand for porcupine bezoars in Malaysia, and it is said that medicinal shops can charge as much as RM700 for under half a gram.
