The Population Council of Japan was a domestic assembly appointed by the Japanese Government that helped to address the imbalance between population and resources that Japan began facing following the post-World War II introduction of Western medicine. Its first major solution was an urging of the Japanese government to make available family size control through contraception, and it emphasized that abortion was not the best solution.
