Ponnunjal is an Indian Tamil-language soap opera that aired Monday to Saturday on Sun TV from 2 September 2013 at 1:00PMIST for 940 episodes, starred Shamitha, Vishwa, Manjula Parithala, Vanitha Hariharan, Shyam, Adhavan and among others .It has been receiving the highest ratings of Tamil serials and received high praise from viewers. The series also reunited Rajkanth and Vanaja who previously starred together on Metti Oli (2002–05) and Deepangal (2008–09). It was produced by Vision Time India Pvt Ltd's Vaidehi Ramamurthy. It is directed by R. Ganesh, A. Abdhullah, A. Jawahar and M. K. Arunthavaraja. The title track was composed by V. Harikrishna and is sung by Priya Hemesh with lyrics by Yugabharathi. It also airs in Sri Lanka Tamil Channel on Shakthi TV at 10:00AMIST.The show hit 1000 episodes on December 29th 2016.

Plot
Ponnunjal is the story of two sisters Nandhini (Abitha/Shamitha Shreekumar) and Priya (Manjula Parithala) who face a new life within marriage leaving their family.Nandhini gets married to Vishwa (Vishwa) and Priya gets married to Varun (Adhavan).Both Nandhini and Priya face their challenges into their married.Many conflicts appearing and solving how their future ahead would look like is the main plot of the serial.

The title song was composed by music director Hari, with lyrics written by Yugabharathi. It was sung by Priya Himesh.
