Biography

Pomeroy started in mid-1997 in Manhattan, Kansas. Matt Marron and David Fairbanks, friends from college, were interested in starting a band that took the best of underground hip-hop and mixed it with old school funk. Taking their name from a street in Manhattan, the duo traveled west to Los Angeles to record their first demo. After finishing, they brought in Dean Hopkins and Chris Davis to fill out the band. John Etzel played keyboard and electric triangle. The band's first practice was April 1998 with the first show only 2 weeks later. The band won the 1998 Kansas State University battle of the bands competition. In 2003, Etzel departed the band and was replaced by Tyson Leslie, who would provide keyboards, keytar, guitar and vocals.

The band toured for 8 years, mostly playing club shows at college towns in the Midwest while releasing several albums and a DVD. The DVD was recorded at the Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri and released in 2005. The band received top 40 airtime on radio stations across the United States.

In late 2007, Pomeroy gained significant airplay with the release of the single "The Beat Goes On". In 2008, Pomeroy released a digital single, "Release This (Pomeroy vs. Adam Wilson). On November 26, 2008 they recorded a live album at Crosstown Station in Kansas City. The album titled "Live" has not yet been released.

In 2009, keyboardist Tyson Leslie and principle songwriter/founder and guitarist Matt Marron both departed the band. Shortly after, they recruited Patrick Lentz on vocals and Micah Burdick on guitar. They release only one song with this line up, "Green Room" as a digital single.

Pomeroy reunited the Identity/A New Reflection era line up for a show at Kansas City's Beaumont Club on December 22, 2010. It has been the last live performance by Pomeroy to date. It was teased on Pomeroy's Facebook page that the band may resurface in 2013.

In the spring of 2015, the members of Pomeroy announced via their Facebook page that they would reunite for two reunion shows. The line-up will consist of the Identity-era members, including David Fairbanks, Matt Marron, Chris Davis, Dean Hopkins and Tyson Leslie. The first of the reunion shows will be held at the Voodoo Lounge at Harrah's North Casino in Kansas City on July 31st, 2015. The second show will be at the Grassroots Music Festival on August 2nd, 2015.

To promote the reunion shows, the members of Pomeroy collaborated long-distance and released a new single entitled "Here We Go" via their Bandcamp profile page.
