Pomaderris apatela locally known as the Dogwood is a shrub or small tree found only in Tasmania and New Zealand. It is found in and on the margins of rainforest, often in re-growth areas. The relatively large leaves have a bumpy surface and irregular margins. The specific epithet apetala is from the Latin meaning a lack of petals. This plant fixes nitrogen in the soil. It may be grown as an ornamental.

Pomaderris apatela is included in the Tasmanian Fire Service's list of low flammability plants, indicating that it is suitable for growing within a building protection zone.
