Pockanchery Chandu Vaidyar was a noted Ayurvedic vaidyar (doctor) who lived at the time of Zamorin of Calicut. The mode of his treatment earned praise from the king's family as well as the general public.

One story claimed that he cured a rabies sufferer. Another story describes his treatment of chronic stomach ache. After daubing honey and some ayurvedic medicine on a small banana, he tied the banana with a thread and told the patient to swallow it. After some time he used the thread to pull the banana from the patient's stomach. The surprised relatives of the patient saw small worm-type creatures on the banana and the patient was completely cured.

A branch of his family members settled in Valapad village, Trissur district. cholayil kunjumami vaidyarValiparambil was his student.
