Plainfield High School is located in Central Village, Connecticut. The school's mascot is a Panther and they are referred to as the Plainfield Panthers during competitive events. Their school colors are black and orange.

The current Plainfield High School building was finished in 2005, at a total cost of $88.3 million. A small building from the old school was retained, out of respect for its historic importance. This little building is nicknamed "The Annex."

Many events are held yearly at the school auditorium, which seats over 1,000 people. These events include dance recitals, the annual PIMA pageant and, in 2010, the "Catch a Rising Star" country singing contest hosted by 97.7 WCTY.

Plainfield High School has many student clubs and sports. These include: Student Council, Debate Team, Diversity Club, Good News Club, Astronomy Club, Ping-pong Club, National Honor Society, Lacrosse Club, Intramural athletics, JV and Varsity Football, Cheerleading, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Softball, Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track, Marching Band, GSA, Wrestling, Ski and Snowboard Club, Dungeons and Dragons club, Anime club and Fitness Club.
