PistonHeads is an online news site dedicated to the automotive industry. The site contains motoring related articles, used car classifieds, and an internet forum.
History
PistonHeads was founded in 1999 as a TVR website and was sold in January 2007 to the Haymarket Media Group by which point it encompassed all aspects of motoring.
On 13 February 2004 the BBC television programme Look North broadcast a news item about alleged death threats made to speed safety campaigners on the PistonHeads website. A complaint was made to Ofcom that the item portrayed the website unfairly but the adjudication did not uphold this view.
PistonHeads is also the title sponsor of the annual Performance Car Show, hosted alongside Autosport International, at the NEC in Birmingham.
