A 1972 film about a pair of wildlife photographer Terry and her brother Art Greene go the rainforest located in Venezuela who are stalked by a homicidal maniac. They hire Jim Pendrake to guide them through the jungle. However, the trio run afoul of evil local hunter Caribe. It is unrelated to the better-known Piranha series.

It stars Danielle Panabaker, Matt Bush, David Koechner, Chris Zylka, Katrina Bowden, Gary Busey, Christopher Lloyd, and David Hasselhoff. Production began on April 27, 2011 with a release scheduled for November 23, 2011, but a month prior to release this date was revised to an unspecified 2012 date. Possible Next Installment, a second sequel to the 2010 remake

Even though the film gained only negative reviews, there have been talks of a sequel. Most likely to be released in early 2017, the next installment will most likely be released straight-to-DVD, and focus more on the ending of the first film, where the Piranha Queen will be the main antagonist.
