Photographic Society of America (PSA) is one of the largest, non-profit organization of its kind. Established in 1934, it has expanded to include members of over 75 countries. Membership in 1989 was about 18,700, and is currently about 4,700, with 40% outside the USA.

The mission of this association is to promote and enhance the art and science of photography in all its phases, among members and non-members alike. PSA also offers over 50 different services from instructional groups to exhibitions in 5 major fields of photography, including Nature, Travel, Photojournalism, Prints and Digital. These shows are open to everyone to enter.

The PSA holds several notable competitions throughout the year, including a Youth Showcase: Additionally PSA approves and oversees about 600 international photographic exhibitions in nearly 50 countries.
