Philippe Camus (born 28 June 1948) is a French businessman. He serves as the non-executive Chairman of the Board of Alcatel-Lucent.

Biography

Camus was born on June 28, 1948. He is a graduate of Sciences Po and the École Normale Supérieure.

In 1972, he started working for the Caisse des dépôts et consignations. In 1992, he joined the Lagardère Group and served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Banque Arjil until 1993. In 1993, he was appointed as Managing Director of the Lagardère Group and helped restructure the Matra Group. He also helped create EADS, and was its CEO from 2000 to 2005. In 2008, he was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Alcatel-Lucent.

From 1996 to 2001, he served on the French supervisory authority for the financial markets. From 2001 to 2005, he was the President of GIFAS. He now serves as co-managing partner of the Lagardère Group and Senior Managing Director of investment bank Evercore Partners. He also serves on the boards of directors of Crédit Agricole, Accor, and Schlumberger. He is also a member of the Paris Europlace Association.

He was decorated the Cross of the German Merit Order in 2004 and the Officer of the French Légion d’Honneur in 2005.
