Peskovka, Volgograd Oblast meets the description of a German colony named Peskavatka. Peskavatka was created in approximately 1767 and located 100 km south-west from the regional center of Saratov. While the Russian administration named the colony Peskavatka (after the nearby stream), the German's who moved there called the colony Kolb, after the first "Vorsteher" (administrative leader) of the colony, Andreas Kolb, who was from Hessenberg.
