Biography

The band met in 2000 and played together in various bands up until 2004. After a brief hiatus, they decided to form Penny Racer's Last Journey in January 2005.

During the first couple of years of the band's existence, they were very closely associated with the now defunct 'Vandalism Beings at Home' group which was a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting bands.

The band are known for their energetic live performances and have played sporadically around the UK since their formation.

In 2006, they released the EP Beard-Free & Exciting which was recorded at British composer Robert John Godfrey's studio in Northampton, England.

In the summer of 2007, they played at the 'BBC Three Counties festival and continued to tour around the UK.

Between 2008 and 2010, the band built their own recording studio and recorded the album Fierce Grin. This was released in September 2010.

As of January 2012, the band are currently on hiatus with no plans to record or perform in the near future.

Influences

Over the years, the band have been compared to such bands as Fugazi, Blur, Cardiacs, XTC, Sonic Youth and Pink Floyd.

The band themselves have been less specific about their musical influences in the past, but do cite the philosophies of underground bands such as Cardiacs and Fugazi as inspirations.
