Penguin Point (60°31′00″S 45°56′00″W) is a point which forms the northwestern extremity of Coronation Island in the South Orkney Islands. It was discovered on December 7, 1821 by Captain George Powell, a British sealer in the sloop Dove, and Captain Nathaniel Palmer, an American sealer in the sloop James Monroe. It was named by Powell because of the number of penguins which were on this point.
