Penelope M. Brown is an American journalist who reports on the current American workforce, focusing especially on the role of women workers.
Brown earned a B.S. in 1998 in News-Editorial Journalism at Bowling Green State University, where she was the copy chief of the BG News. Brown’s editorial work has covered professions traditionally underrepresented by women. For five years she worked as an Assignment Editor in the Sports Department for USA Today, at a time where female sports editors make up less than 10% of the field. Since 2009 she has worked for the trade associaton AMT, the Association for Manufacturing Technology, reporting on an industry in which women still make up only 27% of the workforce. She has also edited technology and engineering textbooks.
Brown served as the Deputy Managing Editor at Traffic World, covering the Traffic Information Bureau of Chicago and Washington. She is currently the Director of Marketing and Communications at AMT.
