Paul Tipton (born 26 May 1954) was an English cricketer, right-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler who played for Lancashire and Cheshire. and is now one of the UK's leading dentists.

He played for England U-19's in 1972 and 1973 and joined the Lancashire staff in 1974 until 1978 before pursuing a career in Dentistry. He then represented Cheshire in the Minor Counties Championship between 1980 and 1983 and made two List A appearances against Middlesex and Kent in the NatWest Trophy, and was part of the Cheshire team that won the inaugural Minor Counties knock out cup in 1983.

Professor Tipton is now an internationally acclaimed Prosthodontist who has worked in private practice for more than 30 years. He is the founder of Tipton Training Ltd, one of the UK’s leading private dental training academies with branches in Manchester, Scotland, London, Dublin and Dubai.

He was voted one of the ‘most influential dentists in the UK’ by his peers in Dentistry Magazine in 2017 and finished in the top three dentists in Aesthetic Dentistry’s poll in November 2012 and has published over 100 scientific papers in the dental press.

He obtained a Master's Degree in Conservative Dentistry in 1989 from the Eastman Dental Hospital in London and in the same year started teaching on the University of Manchester’s MSc course in Restorative Dentistry. He is now a lecturer on their MSc programme in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry and also lectures at Kings College London (LonDEC), and City of London Dental School (COLDS).

In 1992, Professor Tipton was awarded an honorary Diploma in General Dental Practice from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and was appointed a member of the British Dental Association’s Independent Practice Committee. In 1999, he was certified as a Specialist in Prosthodontics by the General Dental Council, and in 2013 was awarded with the title of ‘Visiting Professor' following his appointment as programme leader for the City of London Dental School’s new MClinDent modules in Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry.

Professor Tipton is also on the editorial board of Private Dentistry Magazine, Restorative & Aesthetic Practice and Implant Dentistry. He was a founding member and on the Board of Directors of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry and the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is currently the President of the British Academy for Restorative Dentistry and was recently elected Fellow of the International Academy of Dental Facial Esthetics (IADFE).
