Paul Thompson (born May 6, 1968) is a former Canadian ice hockey defenceman from Manitoba. He acquired British citizenship.

Thompson played in the WHL for parts of 2 seasons between 1986 and 1988 for Brandon Wheat Kings, Swift Current Broncos, Prince Albert Raiders and New Westminster Bruins. During this time he was drafted by the New York Islanders of the NHL in the 12th round.

Thompson signed for Guildford Flames in 1993 where he was influential in the recovery of the Flames from serious financial trouble. Between 1993–1999 he made 356 appearances and scored 410 points, he also spent 851 minutes in the penalty box. These stats leave him 6th on the Flames All Time Scorers list.

He went on to make 12 appearances for Hull Thunder in 99–00.
