Overview

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 151 Parbatta (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Parbatta community development block; Ratan, Gogri, Jamalpur North, Jamalpur South, Rampur, Muskipur, Pasraha, Basudeopur, Itahari, Sherchakla, Paikant, Deotha, Gauchhari, Madarpur gram panchayats and Gogri Jamalpur notofoed area of Gogri CD Block.

Parbatta (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 25 Khagaria (Lok Sabha constituency).

1977-2010

In the 2010 state assembly elections, Samrat Choudhury of Rashtriya Janata Dal won the Parbatta seat defeating his nearest rival Ramanand Prasad Singh of JD(U). Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Ramanand Prasad Singh of JD(U) defeated Rajesh Kumar, Independent, in October 2005 and Rakesh Kumar of RJD in February 2005. Rakesh Kumar of RJD defeated Ramanand Singh, Independent, in 2000. Vidya Sagar Nishad of Janata Dal defeated Paramanand Chaudhary of Congress/ Independent in 1995 and 1990. Ram Chandra Mishra of Congress defeated Surendra Singh of Lok Dal in 1985. Ram Chandra Mishra of Congress (I) defeated Nayeem Akhtar of Janata Party (SC) in 1980. Nayeem Akhtar, Independent, defeated Sachchidanand Das of Congress in 1977.
