The Paraguayan jaguar was proposed as a subspecies of jaguar, with the taxonomic name Panthera onca paraguensis , native to Paraguay in the Gran Chaco or the Pantanal regions. Eventually, research failed to find evidence that the jaguar was divided into different subspecies.
