Paola Paternoster (née Carotenuto on 22 December 1935) is a retired Italian athlete. She competed in the discus throw at the 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics and in the javelin throw in 1956, and placed 11th–20th. Paternoster held national titles in the high jump (1955), discus throw (1955–1957), javelin throw (1956–1957, 1959–1961) and pentathlon (1954–1956).
