Palmolive is the trademark of a line of products produced by Colgate-Palmolive Company. It was introduced in 1898 and is sold in various countries. It includes shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash (body wash/shower gel) and hand-wash liquid. In North America, the line of products also include a dishwashing liquid. Palmolive is the second brand of the company, after Colgate toothpaste.

History

Established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1898, the B.J. Johnson Company started making a soap entirely of palm oil and olive oil, the formula of which was developed by the company. It was later renamed "Palmolive".

Around the start of the 20th century, Palmolive was the world's best-selling soap.

In 1953, the company became known as the Colgate-Palmolive Company.

From 1990 to 1995, a symbol logo of Palmolive was adopted. From 1995 to 2016, another Palmolive logo was adopted and has been replaced with a new scheme in 2016.
