Demographics
As of 2011 India census, Pallapalayam had a population of 4787. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Pallapalayam has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 71%. In Pallapalayam, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age. Present Panchayath leader (President) of Pallapalayam is Mr.S.Bala Suresh, Before him Pallapalayam was led by Mr. A. Boganathan,Mrs. Kanakavalli Shanmugasundaram, Mrs. Amsaveni Ponnusamy, MR. Thirumalisamy Gounder and Mr. Tamil Selvam Gounder. Mr. Thirumalisamy Gounder was a well known politician since MGR period. He was the Panchayath leader of Pallapalayam consecutively for 20 years. He was also EX-District counselor of udumalpet during the ADMK lead government. He placed great emphasis on social development in the village. He also launched special bus service for the village people.

Cultivation
Pallapalayam is predominantly flourished with water resource. Sugarcane is the major crop cultivated. Crushing of sugarcane is done at the Amaravathi Cooperative Sugar Mills, located in Amaravathi, which is few miles away from Pallapalayam.
