Pakistan Librarians Welfare Organization was established in 2005. The main objective was to promote library profession and professionals in Pakistan. Main areas have been training and development and promotion of Library culture in Pakistan. A number of training workshops and seminars are on its credit. The founder members of PLWO are Muhammad Shahid Soroya, Muhammad Asif Munir, Muhammad Ashraf Shakoori, Adnan Adil, Rao Rashid and Rana Zia Javed Joyia. In recent elections Muhammad Asif Munir has been elected as President and Muhammad Shahid Soroya as Secretary General of PLWO HQ. The provincial chapters have completed their bodies. PLWO has started its research Journal titled as " International Journal of Information Management Sciences" with annual frequency. PLWO has started its quarterly newsletter "The Librarian". The research journal and newsletter are available on website on www.plwo.org.pk.

PLWO has 5 branches including Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Balochistan and Federal Branch. PLWO H/Q is situated in Lahore.
