A unique concept, a paired home is two homes that share a wall and have opposite side entries. The whole building is designed to look like one single larger home. Upon driving by a paired home, many people are not able to see that it is actually two homes. In certain communities, the builder designs the look of the paired home to have a courtyard type backyard on one side, which makes it look like it is a courtyard and not a backyard. Unlike a front to front duplex, the paired home helps provide more privacy for the homeowners.

The paired home is similar to a duplex, in sharing a wall with another home, but provides a distinctly different living experience because the two homes have entrances on opposite sides of the structure. The homeowner has the pleasure of coming and going as they please, as though they lived in a single family home. Also, depending on the architecture of the building, the interiors of each side can be completely different. Depending on the lot, one side could have a full basement and the other just a crawl, or unfinished lower space.
