Ottawa Hills High School is a public high school in the village of Ottawa Hills, Ohio, United States, just west of Toledo. It is the only high school in the Ottawa Hills Local Schools district. The school's mascot is the "Green Bears."
The High School is attached to Ottawa Hills Junior High, and as a whole the building is commonly referred to as Ottawa Hills Junior/Senior High School by the villagers. Just outside is a flagpole built by Alumni of OHHS.
The school frequently consists of between 300 and 400 high school students. Known for academics, students at Ottawa Hills excel with a college preparatory curriculum.
The Green Bears have won multiple state titles. Most recently, the boys golf team won the 2013 Division III State Championship. Boys basketball made it to the state final four for the first time in school history in March 2010, losing to Newark Catholic 48-36 in the state semis.
The football team is tied for the most consecutive victories by a Northwest Ohio team with a 23 games winning streak from 1972-1974 (two undefeated seasons). Coach Norm Niedermeier was the football head coach for 40 years from 1957-1996, with 4 undefeated teams.
The boys tennis team qualified for states for the first time in school history in 2016. The Green Bears defeated Lexington High School 3-0 after having a 9 year losing streak to them in the Regional Finals.
Tom Scholz — lead guitarist of the band Boston. A top student and a member of the varsity basketball team, he graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1965. Prior to his musical career, Scholz received both a bachelor's degree (1969) and a master's degree (1970) in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked for Polaroid Corporation as a senior product design engineer.
Jamie O'Hara — country singer / songwriter who wrote the # 1 Grammy winning country song of the year "Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout the Good Ol' Days)" in 1986, performed by the group The Judds. Jamie was also one half of The O'Kanes who had a #1 country song and 7 charted tracks in the mid 80s. The band broke up in 1990. O'Hara also participated in popular U.K. reality show Celebrity Big Brother in 2017. Jamie has written several #1 country songs and Hot Billboard singles for many artists; his first #1 was in 1981 with the song, "Older Woman" recorded by Ronnie McDowell. He graduated in 1967 from Ottawa Hills where he played Varsity Football. He came back in 2005 for the dedication of the new Norm Niedermeier Football stadium to honor his friend and former coach.
Christine Brennan — American sports columnist, TV and radio commentator, best-selling author and nationally known speaker is especially known for her coverage of the Olympics. Christine (born May 14, 1958, in Toledo, Ohio) graduated in 1976 from Ottawa Hills and has written three books on the subject of figure skating: the best-selling Inside Edge (1996), Edge of Glory (1998), and Champions on Ice (2002).
Kimberly Kos Southall — Boston University Hall of Fame athlete, was inducted in 2004 for her success playing field hockey.
John Colenback - The actor was best known for portraying Dan Stewart on As the World Turns. He appeared in 17 theatrical productions at Ottawa High and later was voted best actor as a senior at Dartmouth College. In addition to his work on television, he appeared in two Broadway productions and a number of plays in summer stock theatre.
Steve Gordon - The screenwriter and director of the 1981 Academy Award-winning film, Arthur; he graduated in 1957.
