Oswaldo Romano Junior (born in Sao Paulo, Brazil - 1960, Engineer by Mackenzie University - 1983). Started working in 1979 in Romano Center, a company founded by his father that became the major home depot in Brazil. In 1994, one of the first Brazilian franchisor models, his family sold the business, when he was Superintendent, covering 21 stores.
In that same year founded TKR Systems, a software company later called Hipernet in 1996. Hipernet was an ISP focused on corporate market for the new web and telecommunications world, providing web access, data center, voice and major corporate solutions.
In the year 2000, the private equity of Bank Boston, BancBoston Capital invested in the business and Hipernet became Hypernet Interactive. In 2001 the company was sold to Soluziona S.A. (a company owned by the giant Union Fenosa Spanish group), then acting as Country Manager of Soluziona Servicos Internet Brasil, for three years.
In 2006 founded SafestMail, an anti-spam solution elected by Info Exame, the main business Brazilian magazine, one of the 10 most innovative products launched in the Brazilian market in 2006, and in 2007 VoeSeguro.com, an insurance website for travelling assistance and personal accidents. Sold his stocks in VoeSeguro in 2010 to create Segurar.com (meaning “Insurance.com” in Portuguese), as the first general insurance portal in Brazil.
Segurar.com has now Jose Augusto Correa (Crival/FGV) and Rodrigo Veloso (onedrinks.com) as co-founders, and Aber Whitcomb (MySpace), Ashwin Navin (BitTorrent,Flingo), Paul Bragiel (I/O Ventures), Tommy Mottola (Sony Music), Michael Farello and Scott Dahnke (Catterton Partners) on the advisory board.
In October 2014 he creates BidCarros with Jovem Pan Media Group and O Estado de S. Paulo - Jornal do Carro, both listed as mainstream media in their segments.
