Ostodolepididae

Ostodolepididae is an extinct family of Lepospondyli tetrapods from the early Permian. They were primarily found in the United States and Europe.

History

Specimens have been discovered dating from the Permian in the Tambach formation of Germany. Another specimin of the same age, Nannaroter mckenziei, was discovered in Oklahoma. The other specimens belong to early age Kungurian and are from Oklahoma and Texas. The presence of the oldest specimens of the group in eastern and western Europe and North America indicate that the group had an extensive geological history.
