Traverse artistic director orla o loughlin talks about directing tracks of the winter bear


Orla O'Loughlin is a British theatre director. She joined the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh as Artistic Director in January 2012.

Orla O'Loughlin was previously Artistic Director of Pentabus Theatre. Orla joined the company in 2007, moving from the Royal Court Theatre where she was the International Associate.

  • Orla was winner of the James Menzies Kitchin Directors Award and recipient of the Carlton Bursary at the Donmar Warehouse. She trained at the National Theatre and National Theatre Studio. She has a B.A in Theatre and Performance from Warwick University, an M.A in Advanced Theatre Practice from Central School of Speech and Drama and a PGCE in Drama from the University of Reading.

    Last year the Observer listed Orla as one of the top 50 Cultural leaders in the U.K. Since taking up post as Artistic Director of the Traverse Theatre her work has won a variety of Herald Angels, Fringe Firsts and Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland.
