History

Émile Obrey opened his first shop in the 1930s. After being part of the French resistance during World War II, Obrey decided to open the house Obrey, rue Tronchet, in Paris in 1951.

He decided to create new collections of watches and jewels combining quality and aesthetics. Bringing numerous talented designers, the company Obrey launches a collection of solid silver watches in 1966.

The company became very successful during the 1960s-1970s. The Obrey watches were considered unique and a must-have for Parisian ladies. During this period, the company grew significantly, becoming an international firm, and selling its products worldwide, especially in the US and Germany via famous distributors.

Current situation

The house Obrey has always been administered by the Obrey family. Today, Émile Obrey's son is the current manager of the company.

Obrey watches, manufactured in France, have achieved great success, especially in Japan, where a shop has been opened in Tokyo.

The high level of Obrey watches' personalization enables customers to have a truly unique product. Customers can choose the clock face, the band, and the size wrist of each watch.

The house Obrey uses quartz mechanisms (Swiss mechanisms, mainly ETA). Appearance has always been considered by Obrey as more important than mechanism. Therefore, the company focuses on the appearance of their products, making the band and the watch case in solid silver (products are hand made)
