Northwest High School is a public high school in Jackson, Michigan, United States. The high school's principal is Scott Buchler. It is part of the Northwest Community Schools district.

History

Established in 1954, the Northwest Community Schools is one of the largest districts in Jackson County. The district includes approximately 144 square miles (370 km2) and serves 3,600 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade and another 600 children and adults through an extensive Childcare and Adult & Community Education Program. The district employs over 300 staff members. After having five separate major buildings for the past few decades, the district has closed Flora List Elementary, and has consolidated the students into the other four buildings.

Athletics

The school chose as its mascot the well-known figure of the Northwest Territories—the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (the "Mounties"). Fittingly with this mascot, the school colors are red and black. The school purchased a mascot costume in 2008, which can now be seen at many athletic events in the district. The following sports are offered at Northwest:
