The Northern Regional Health Authority is the governing body for healthcare regulation in northern Manitoba, excluding Churchill. It was formed in 2012 by the merger of the former Burntwood and Nor-Man Health Authorities. The RHA is the largest geographical region in Manitoba, covering nearly two-thirds of the province.

The RHA provides services to the communities of

  • Thompson
  • The Pas
  • Lynn Lake
  • Flin Flon
  • Norway House
  • Grand Rapids
  • Leaf Rapids
  • Gillam
  • A challenge the RHA encounters is many communities do not have year-round all-weather road access. Many communities rely on rail, boat, or air service to travel. This access has significant considerations on the health of residents, financial resources, and human resources.
