The Northern League Challenge Cup is a tournament played exclusively by teams who are current members of the Northern Football League in North-East England. It currently has the official title of the 'Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup', but is usually just known as the 'League Cup'. It is traditionally the last game of the Northern Football League season.

Format

The competition is a knockout tournament with pairings and home advantage for each round drawn at random with no seeding. Each tie is played as a single leg, with extra time and if necessary a penalty shoot-out used to decide the winner.

The Final is played at a neutral venue and the competition is typically played over six rounds (including the Final). The most successful club Shildon AFC is based in Shildon co. Durham England.
