The North East Women's Regional Football League is at the fifth and sixth levels of the English women's football pyramid, with the seven other Regional Leagues – Eastern, London & SE, Southern, South West, East Mids, West Mids and North West. The North East Women's Regional League feeds directly into the Northern Combination Women's Football League, and lies above the Durham Women's Football League, East Riding Women's Football League, North Riding Women's Football League and West Riding Women's Football League in the pyramid. The pyramid structure was founded in 1998.
