North East Mills Group is a small non-profit society which aims to conserve the wind and watermill heritage of North East England. The society was set up in 1997 and draws its membership from a wide spectrum of people, from those with a professional link with mills to ones with a general amateur interest. The group publishes the magazine Northumbrian Mills four times a year as well as other publications on an occasional basis.

The main activities of the group are developing a database of all known wind and water mill sites in the North East of England; commenting on planning applications affecting mills; and providing advice and guidance to anyone wanting to repair or restore mills. The group works with other organisations such as the Mills Archive Trust.
