History

North American Transport Services was founded by Damian Diaz and Lincoln Fontanills with three trucks in 2004. From the onset, the company established relationships with major transportation brokerage companies in order to fuel its growth. In 2006, the Company acquired its first major direct customer, a leading U.S. manufacturer of recycled paper products. This customer, as well as other similarly positioned clients acquired subsequently, enabled the company to become a leading expert on providing transportation services to the paper and packaging industry. NATS continued expanding its fleet and freight volume while entering new industry segments such as food and beverage. During 2006, the company expanded its historical dry van service offering with dedicated truckload services. In 2008, NATS began offering freight brokerage and logistics services.

Business recognitions

During 2014, North American Transport Services was nominated to the Inc. 5000 list, with a 62% 3-year growth rate. In 2015, NATS again earned a place on the 2015 Inc. 5000 list, with a 64% 3-year growth rate. The list, released annually, identifies the fastest-growing private companies in America.

The company’s tractor fleet consists of trucks manufactured by Freightliner, with an average age of 24 months, and the company’s 53 ft dry van trailers are manufactured by Great Dane and Hyundai with an average age of 32 months. Over the past years, NATS has been taking measures to increase aerodynamics in both tractors and trailers which include the installation of speed and idle management controls for trucks and side skirts for trailers. These initiatives are contributing to more efficient equipment exploitation, which results in lower fuel and maintenance costs benefitting the company and the environment. NATS is also a SmartWay Transportation partner. The company’s tractor fleet is fully compliant with the EPA-issued emission standards. Aside from improvements to aerodynamics and fuel consumption, all company tractors are equipped with Omnitracs satellite communication devices.
