Nolan Wallach



Nolan Russell Wallach is a mathematician known for the works in the representation theory of reductive algebraic groups. He is the author of the 2-volume treatise Real Reductive Groups.

Wallach did his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, graduating in 1962. He earned his Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1966, under the supervision of Jun-Ichi Hano. He is a professor emeritus of mathematics at the University of California, San Diego, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a fellow of the American Mathematical Society. His doctoral students include AMS Fellow Alvany Rocha.
