Nolan karras for education first


Nolan E. Karras (born December 30, 1944 in Ogden, Utah) is a politician from the state of Utah. He served as a member of the Utah State legislature from 1981-1990.

Karras earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Weber State College and later an MBA from the University of Utah in 1970.

While in the Utah State House Karras served as speaker of that body.

Karras has been a members of the board of trustees of Weber State University since 2013 and its chair since 2015.

He served as a member of the Utah House of Representatives from 1981 to 1990, holding the office of Speaker of the House from 1989 to 1990.

Karras was a member of the Utah State Board of Regents for 12 years. He was chairman from 2001-2005.

He ran for Governor of Utah in 2004 but was defeated by Jon Huntsman, Jr. in the Utah Republican Party primary election. Enid Greene was his running mate.

Karras is a member of the Board of Directors of Scottish Power, the corporation that operates in Utah as Rocky Mountain Power.

Karras is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He is married to Linda Karras and they have 3 children (Brett, Jodi, and Darrin) and several grandchildren. Some of them are Brady Karras, Griffin Karras, and Carter Karras.
