  • BREW and Java ME downloadable games
  • MMS allows text and multimedia messaging
  • MP3 player and stereo FM radio
  • Speech recognition and voice commands for 25 caller IDs
  • Supports MIDI, AAC and MP3 custom ringtones
  • Other technical data include:

  • Form factor: Clamshell
  • Stub/extendable antenna
  • Battery life: talk: 3.20 hours, standby: 192 hours (8 days)
  • The 6255i was considered an excellent all-in-one phone by many users when it was introduced; it has since been outpaced by newer offerings.

    Carriers

The phone has been distributed in North America by the following carriers:

  • Alltel (U.S.)
  • nTelos (U.S.)
  • Metro PCS (U.S.)
  • US Cellular (U.S.)
  • Midwest Wireless (U.S.)
  • Cellular South (U.S.)
  • The 6255i cannot be activated on Verizon Wireless, despite being technically capable of operation on that network; however, 6255i phones that were originally activated on Alltel before their acquisition by Verizon will continue to be usable. The 6256i is identical to the 6255i, except for having been customized by Verizon for use on their network. Some of the above listed software (e.g. MP3 player) has been deleted, and certain features (e.g. downloading software or ringtones) are only available through Verizon for a fee; some of these restrictions may be removed via Nokia's programming software.
