Nil volentibus arduum

Nil volentibus arduum is a Latin expression meaning "nothing is impossible to the valiant", and the name of a seventeenth-century Dutch literary society that tried to bring French literature to the Dutch Republic.

Introduction

The society Nil volentibus arduum had tried to dictate its own terms in the Dutch literary world and to exert a kind of intellectual influence in imposing the poetic rules of Aristotle, Horace and Nicolas Boileau-Despréaux.
