Nibelung (d. before 953), Count of Betuwe (943-953), son of Ricfried, Count of Betuwe, and Herensinda. Nibelung became either count or co-count of Betuwe prior to his father’s death in 950.

Nibelung married Liethard, daughter of Reginar II, Count of Hainaut, and Adelaide of Burgundy. Their children were;

  • Rudolph, Count of Betuwe
  • Baldrick I, Bishop of Liège (955-959)
  • Bertha of Betuwe, married to Arnulf, Count of Cambrai, son of Isaac, Count of Cambrai. Isaac was the son of Raoul of Flanders (murdered in 896), Count of Cambrai, who was in turn the third son of Baldwin I Iron Arm, Margrave of Flanders.
  • Otto, Count of Looz (It is unclear if Otto was the son or grandson of Nibelung, possibly being the son of Rudolph.)
  • NIbelung was succeeded by his son Rudolph as Count of Betuwe upon his death.
