The 71st New York Film Critics Circle Awards, honoring the best in film for 2005, were given on 12 December 2005 at the Algonquin Hotel, New York City, United States.

Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain won 3 awards: Best Film, Actor (Heath Ledger) and Director. A History of Violence, starring Viggo Mortensen, won 2 awards, both for Supporting Performances by William Hurt and Maria Bello. Reese Witherspoon was voted Best Actress for her role in Walk the Line (she would go on to win the Academy Award for Best Actress).
