In neuroscience, a neurophilic substance is one that has an affinity for nervous tissue, often involving a type of tangential cell migration. Neurophilic migration is (heterotypic) cellular migration in which the cells migrate in close apposition to axonal fascicles as opposed to chain migration (homotypic) when the cells migrate in close contact to each other without using a glial or neuronal scaffold.
