The Netherlands were present at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999, held in Jerusalem, israel.

Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS), has in past years, held a national final to select their entry. The final was held at the NOS TV Studios in Hilversum,hosted by Paul de Leeuw and Linda de Mol. 10 songs sang in the final and, using a 50/50 jury/televoting method, the winner was decided to be Marleen van den Broek, better known as Marlayne, with the song "One Good reason".

At Eurovision

Marlayne performed 11th on the night of the contest, following France and preceding Poland. At the close of the voting, she had received 71 points, placing 8th of 23 countries.
