The Netherlands was represented by Greetje Kauffeld, with the song '"Wat een dag", at the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 18 March in Cannes, France. For the first time the Dutch entry was chosen internally with no National Songfestival being held. Kauffeld had taken part in the three previous Dutch preselections of 1958, 1959 and 1960.
