Nedre Stjørdal is a former municipality in Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. It covered the western part of the present-day municipality of Stjørdal.

History

The municipality was established in 1850 when the old municipality of Stjørdalen (see formannskapsdistrikt) was split into two: Øvre Stjørdal and Nedre Stjørdal. Initially, Nedre Stjørdal had a population of 6,543. Nedre Stjørdal existed until 1 January 1902 when it was divided to form three new municipalities: Lånke, Skatval, and Stjørdal.
