National Mission on Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE) is an Indian government initiative proposed to address national problems of inefficient energy use. It is one of eight proposals created by India's National Action Plan for Climate Change and is based on the Energy Conservation Act of 2001. The Mission will enable about Rs. 75,000 crore worth transactions in energy efficiency. In doing so, it will, by 2015, help save about five per cent of our annual energy consumption(Press Information Bureau).

Recommendations include specific energy consumption decreases in large energy consuming industries as well as a system for companies to trade energy savings certificates.
